My family: My family supports me daily in me endeavors by letting me be myself. They provide me with food and shelter. They supported me since I was a child, throughout my school years and my career choices. They did not lead me in different ways, they allowed me to make my own path.
My friends: I can count the number of friends I've had since high school on my two hands, and that makes me feel great. To know that I can still turn to high school friends in a time of need, and to imagine we have stayed friends through the years. My friends offer me a listening ear, and they help me when times get tough. The ones close to me gave careful criticism and helped me come to decisions. They allowed me to make mistakes.
My colleagues: My colleagues offer support everyday at work. Keeping the open lines of communication is a great benefit for everyone at my center. My colleagues act as a sounding board when I have ideas, and I do the same. We use each other for lesson plans and we count on each other to help when our stress levels are getting high.
My classroom: My classroom offers me support on a weekday basis. The energy that my 2 year old's have is unmatched. They keep me motivated to learn more about early childhood and continue to prove as a reason we need to advocate for the children. I am always amazed, everyday at the changes that occur in such a short period of time. The children brains and body's are rapidly developing, and it is truly remarkable what they are capable of learning. I love having everyday at my hands so I can assist them in their quest to become independent.
The Gym: I used the gym as a support because it is a place I can go to unwind. I am able to get in some exercise, running and doing cardio. I can forget about my day, and keep myself healthy. While it is great to have supports, I need to keep focused on me also.
I think if I did not have any supports, even the smallest ones such as the gym or my classroom, my daily routine would be much more difficult to achieve. The gym gives me opportunity to stretch and make my body feel better.
If I did not have support of colleagues, doing any work at work would feel useless. If they did not believe in me, I would feel like I was constantly failing.
If I did not have my friends or family, I think there would be a huge impact on my life. I would not have a break from my day of work. This is a luxury my friends and family offer to me. I am able to leave my work and work when I have friends to rely on.
