I was supported in play as I grew and developed by my family. My family would provide the toys to play with and teach me games wit the cards. They also allowed me to explore the neighborhood. This was until they began to tear down parks in favor of house and business, or the community made one of our baseball diamonds private due to vandalism.
Write a brief entry on how you feel play today is similar or different from the play in which you engaged as a child and what your hope for young is now with regard to play
Play today is much different then how I it was when i was growing up. I did not have video games to play and entertain myself until I was a little older, and even when i had video games, I still preferred to play outside. We used our imaginations to create scenarios, or we would ride our bikes for hours until it was getting dark and time to come home. There were no worries for being outside. If it was raining, we played board games or cards.
Include your thoughts regarding the role of play throughout your life and/or the role of play throughout childhood and adulthood
I felt it was extremely important for me to learn how to play. It developed my imagination, my creativity and my desire to explore and learn new things.
